SPC 4 FREESTYLE JUDGING: Piece #1: 1831 Rating: 7 /10 Comments: good energy, cool ideas. Hillarious transition at the end Piece #2: A Castaway Rating: 8 /10 Comments: very pretty, envokes real emotion, great atmposphere with use of sounds. Tells a story Piece #3: Ahah! Lol! A Reggaeton Song In Your SPC! XD Rating: 6/10 Comments: Very funny genre parody, not a huge amount of substance but effective regardless Piece #4: anos Rating: 7/10 Comments: lotsa pentatonics. Funny and clever use of vocal samples. some neat chords near the end. Piece #5: Aqua Interlude Rating: 8/10 Comments: very evocative and effective atmosphere, great use of sounds. Lovely texture. Piece #6: Cotton candy land Rating: 6 /10 Comments: really neat strumming effect. Interesting chord progression as well. Piece #7: Delicious suspicious Rating: 5/10 Comments: quite a healthy length, the intro did not prepare me for the playful? use of vocal samples. reminds me of singing troll songs from 80s fantasy/horror flicks. Piece #8: Envelope Rating: 9/10 Comments: unfortunately short in length considering how frickin awesome this is... to use some of the samples in their entirety as not just compositional inspiration but to incorporate them seamlessly into the song is just bloody brilliant. On top of that the presentation sounds just utterly professional hollywood quality. Piece #9: ES 29 Rating: 8/10 Comments: great part writing as well as overall composition. The two breakdown section are frickin stellar. Love the pitch bending on the polyphonic sample. Piece #10: Faps_Person_Sh00t3r Rating: 8 /10 Comments: mind blowingly clever Piece #11: Happiness_in_Tragedyland Rating: 8/10 Comments: great atmosphere and use of sounds. really neat progressions. the section at 1:19 is just gorgeous Piece #12: Himalayan_Dance Rating: 9 /10 Comments: terrific piece of listening here. Great development and use of sounds to create a really plausible ambiance. Everything belongs and works for the greater good of the piece. Piece #13: im so lucky i have a big penis Rating: 5/10 Comments: great title, tuning is reminiscent of old atari games. Piece #14: improvthought Rating: 4/10 Comments: there's not much here from the listening perspective. It's fun when people use entire samples, neat pitch effects. Piece #15: Life_and_times_of_Dave_Harris Rating: 8/10 Comments: very cool chord progressions and melodic play. Piece #16: LolIMakeTune Rating: 8/10 Comments: really fun use of samples and some great composition Piece #17: Medium_Prime Rating: 9/10 Comments: Classic stuff. Really indentifiably unique writing both in terms of harmony and phrasing. Piece #18: My_Suspension Rating: 10/10 Comments: really incredible use of samples not to mention composition. DAMN I wish this were longer. Piece #19: Night Skiing Rating: /10 Comments: lame Piece #20: Quirky Hostility Rating: 8/10 Comments: very haunting and beautiful melody and progression. Piece #21: Shadows of Swodahs Rating: 8/10 Comments: pretty epic in scope, starts out feeling like a relaxation/hypnosis tape, really effectively pulled off concept. doesn't build in quite the way I would have expected towards the end, substituting the panel beater type samples for marching snares but it works. Very well thoughtout. Piece #22: smoothdrummy Rating: 6/10 Comments: intially impressive for use of entire sample but somewhat lacking in substance. Piece #23: spacing Rating: 3/10 Comments: the short loop sounds very professional, not particularly pleasant to listen to. Piece #24: spacing-2 Rating: 3/10 Comments: thanks for this? Piece #25: Spicy_Chickenjoy Rating: 8/10 Comments: really fun music. super exhuberant and playful. really nice sounding "rides" and "hats" made from the samples. Piece #26: SSEX Music is Motionless Rating: 8/10 Comments: very professional, great atmosphere. Not much in the way of musical composition but that clearly wasn't the author's intention. Piece #27: supremecontrol Rating: 4/10 Comments: cool use of what appears to be a single sample, not particularly fun to listen to Piece #28: supremecontrol-import Rating: 6/10 Comments: nice development, another expressive showcase of use of a mostly one sample Piece #29: Swedish_man_crushes_the_communism Rating: 8/10 Comments: beautiful use of swedish man. great harmonies at 0:44 onward Piece #30: Syncopatriarch Rating: 10/10 Comments: just insane really. The ending communicates a frustration that is so not apparent in the song itself that seems to have been pulled off with the greatest of ease. Piece #31: Tasmanian Dizzy Mix Rating: /10 Comments: dedicated to and created for Dave Harris and Richard Armijo my Peoplezzz, hopefully other people can get into it. Piece #32: UndeservingScreams Rating: 7/10 Comments: very clever use of sounds Piece #33: whatdafismic Rating: 10/10 Comments: fucking insane man.. seriously off the chain genius use of samples, totally professional grade A stuff. pretty mindblowing Piece #34: Yafafafafunk Rating: 9/10 Comments: great f'ing music. The chopped up vocals are so perfect..comedic timing just brilliant. Sweet basslines, grooves etc.
